The purpose of this two-week pre-apprenticeship program, instructed by expert instructors and guest manufacturing trainers, is to train aspiring fire sprinkler technicians through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on applications. Participants will delve into the fundamental and advanced aspects of fire sprinkler systems, preparing them for successful careers in the field. 

 

Learning Objectives

 

By the end of this bootcamp, participants will:

 

·       Understand the historical context and significance of fire sprinkler systems.

·       Be familiar with different types of fire sprinkler systems and their components.

·       Gain practical experience in using tools, adhering to safety protocols, and performing emergency response and first aid.

·       Develop skills in pipe cutting, threading, and grooving.

·       Learn to read and interpret blueprints related to fire sprinkler systems.

·       Practice the installation and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.

·       Master advanced installation techniques, system testing, and troubleshooting.

·       Prepare for career opportunities with resume crafting, interview skills, and networking strategies.

 

Course Outline

 

Week 1: Fundamentals and Hands-On Practice

 

Day 1: Introduction to Fire Sprinkler Systems 

Day 2: Tools and Safety

  • OSHA 10 Certification 

Day 3 and 4: Pipe Materials and Fabrication 

Day 5: Reading and Understanding Blueprints & Installation Basics 

 

Week 2: Advanced Installation, Testing, and Career Preparation 

Day 6: Basic Pipe Installation 

Day 7: Anatomy of Sprinkler Systems, Compressors and Backflows

  • Guest trainers from Reliable Sprinkler Company, General Air Products and Zurn

Day 8: Sprinkler Head Installation and System Layout 

Day 9: System Testing and Troubleshooting 

Day 10: CPVC Certification and Installation/Career Preparation

 

Additional Information

 

·       Participants must sign a liability waiver on the first day.

·       Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds is required.

·       Attendees must dress appropriately for a workshop setting, including work shirts, pants, toe-protected boots, safety glasses, and work gloves.

·       Lunch will be catered throughout the bootcamp.
